2020 WORLD SIGHT DAY: LION’S INTERNATIONAL CLUB, (District 404) PAYS COURTESY CALL ON THE ALAKE

The Lion’s International Club, District 404, had paid a Courtesy visit to the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, CFR, Okukenu IV, in commencement of its philanthropic services to the people of Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.

Lion (Mrs) Oluremi Lynda Odumbaku, the District Governor, while speaking during the visit, at the Ake Palace on Monday, 12 October, 2020, stated that the Club had decided to solicit for the Royal blessings of the Egba Paramount Monarch before commencing their activities in the area, which included conducting Eye test and provision of necessary medical support to the less privileged.

She further disclosed that the Club would carry out the exercise at the Centenary Hall, Ake, Abeokuta, as well as provide glasses and medicines to people after the tests.

Mrs Odumbaku also said that the Group had contributed money to carry out these operations and made available facilities to take care of as many persons as possible.

In his response, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, expressed that he is happy about the good works that the International Association of Lions Club, District 404B1, Nigeria, had set out to do, adding that the Club is offering an enduring service to the Egba people just as the Rotatory Club of Egbaland.

Oba Gbadebo also commended the Club for their humanitarian efforts to help people live better, and prayed the Almighty God would reward them duly.

The Egba Paramount Ruler further said that a person that does not see lives in darkness and is exposed to great danger, he therefore praised the Lions Club for deeming it fit to help those in danger.

Alake also noted that helping people gives satisfaction and fulfillment to the giver, adding that telling others about it, is to tell them that they too can do the same thing and even do it better.

He thereby encouraged all Egbas both at home and in diaspora, to keep supporting and helping others.

Among the entourage of the District Governor of the International Association of the Lions Club, District 404B1, Nigeria, Lion Oluremi Odumbaku, included the Regional Chairman, Lion Kamorudeen Fajobi; Lion Kayode Ojo, Committee Chairperson; Lion Kayode Adejumo, Chief of Protocols; Lion Adetutu Adegbenle; Lion Oladimeji Ayangbesan; Lion Yemi Wusu; Lion Dayo Opayemi; Lion Olumide Falola; Lion Anthony Ogundipe, Lion Opeyemi Enilolobo, and many others.

Egba High Chiefs present at the occasion included, the Bantun of Egbaland, High Chief Kehinde Sofenwa, and the Aare Baaroyin, Chief Layi Labode.
