2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day; Give Priority To The Welfare Of The Widows And Orphans Of The Fallen Heroes- Clergy Tells Governments


The Provost, Church of Nigeria (Egba Anglican Communion), Revd. Dr. Isaac A. Adeniji has called on the Government to give priority to the welfare of the windows and orphans of the fallen Military Men.

Revd. Adeniji stated this during his sermon, titled “Heroes Of Faith, Our Strength,” at the special church service of the ‘2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration,’ at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta, on Sunday, 9th of January, 2022.

The Reverend pleaded with the Government to always remember the families of the fallen heroes, adding that, the Government should take care of their children’s education, so that, they would not become third citizens in the society.

He also called for Nigerians constant prayers for the Military Officers, who had died in their obedience to their professional calling.

He noted that, the Servicemen were worthy to be celebrated, adding, they had volunteered their lives for the nation to have peace.

Revd. Adeniji stated that, all Armed Forces were called and commissioned by God for special assignment, to keep the world safe and united.

He also admonished the Government to ensure prompt payments of the Military Officers’ entitlements, so as to keep them dedicated in their act of patriotism

He recalled the effort of the Armed Forces during the Nigeria Civil War, adding that, the war was fought, many Military Officers died, women turned widowed and their children turned orphaned, consequently, for the country to stay united.

The Reverend commended the Armed Forces for their efforts and commitments in ensuring that, banditry, kidnapping, terrorism and other vices were being eradicated from the country.

He urged Nigerians to always show respect and pay honour to the Armed Forces, adding that, because of them, everyone was able to sleep comfortably at night and walk freely during the day.

Responding on behalf of the Retired Soldiers and their fallen hero colleagues, the President of the Ogun State Legion, Dr Muyiwa Orukotan appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for his great and prompt support.

He disclosed that Prince Dapo Abiodun had availed the ex service men with funds to take care of the Military Officers and the fallen heroes family.
