2023: Akinlade Joins PDP, Becomes Ladi Adebutu’s Running mate

The foremost leader of the Allied People Movement (APM) and former APC government aspirant, Hon. Akinlade Abdulkabir, has defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Akinlade made the official declaration at the People’s Democratic Party PDP state secretariat Oke Mosan Abeokuta on Friday, July 8th 2022.

Speaking at the secretariat, he said his defection was not a hidden decision, but he had consulted with many of the stakeholders in the state.

Akinlade faulted the present government in the state, pointing out that cultism, insecurities, and the poor management of the economy in the state were part of the inability of the present government to manage the good work of the previous administration in the state.

Akinlade emphasised that his decision was not to just to reciprocate what the People’s Democratic Party had done for him in 2019, but to say thanks for placing confidence in him, while assuring that he would be loyal to the party and his principal honorable, Ladi Adebutu.

He posited that his achievements in the last 90 days in the last elections were something great, adding that he would make sure that the party achieved greater for the remaining period of 7 months to the general election.

The former governorship candidate of Allied People Movement explained that his decision was not easy, but it was absolutely necessary for the benefit of the good people of Ogun state. He promised that he would sacrifice everything to make sure that PDP becomes victorious come the 2023 general election, he said.

Akinlade emphasised that his decision was not to reciprocate what the People’s Democratic Party had done for him in 2019, but to say thanks for placing confidence in him, while assuring that he would be loyal to the party and his principal honorable, Ladi Adebutu.

Also speaking, Hon. Ladi Adebutu expressed excitement over Akinlade’s defection to PDP.

He maintained that it was a great omen for the party as the PDP would not doubt become victorious in the forthcoming election.

Adebutu added that the party would continue to represent Ogun state for greatness and lead the people of Ogun state forward.
