The Oluwo of Egbaland, High Chief Edmund Adeyemi Adeboye celebrated 90th Birthday Anniversary on Tuesday, 21st of June, 2022 in an unusual but most unique way.
Well wishers including the Government, the Egba Grand Monarch, Egba Anglican Community And Others Were Received In The Moderate Sitting Room of the Celebrant.
The Nonagenarian, who is also the Oluwo of Ijeun had apparently and humbly chosen to hold a communion service which took place at his Idi-Aba Residence, Abeokuta.
Preaching a short sermon at the occasion, the Bishop of the St Jude’s Anglican Church, Ijeun, Abeokuta, Right Reverend Abolurin, said that, Oluwo Egba Adeboye, had lived a life of fulfilment and satisfaction.
Bishop Abolurin noted that, Baba was always the first to be at the lengthen service in his active days, describing him as a bridge builder.
The Anglican Bishop admonished Baba to sustain his good works, praying that, the Ijeun Patriarch should begin to sing the song of grace, adding that, he should spend the remaining of his life with God.
In his Royal Remarks, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo declared that, the Oluwo Egba had paid his dues to impeccable Christianity and Egba Traditional System without any conflict.
The Alake recalled what he described as Chief Adeyemi Adeboye’s renewable energy when he used to climb the 16-Story-Olumo Rock during the yearly Lisabi Festivals, with enthusiasm and commitment.
Oba Gbadebo congratulated the Oluwo Egba, adding that, he knew long ago that Baba Adeyemi Adeboye would live long.
The Alake commended Oluwo Adeboye for his non discrimination against any person, religion and social or township section of Egbaland and prayed that, he would celebrate a Centenary Birthday.
The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Shuaib Salisu, said that, the Governor was very pleased and excited for Oluwo Adeboye’s attaining nonaagerian Birthday.
CoS Afolabi disclosed that, Governor Abiodun had seen the celebrant as an icon and respecter of humanity and Egba Tradition as well as a pillar of strength to Egbaland.
He stated that, God had preserved him so that, Ogun State could learn from his vast experiences as a lawyer and Community leader.
Reading the Governor’s Letter, Shuaib congratulated Oluwo Egba for achieving the age of 90, which he described as the pick prayer of many elders.
In his appreciation, delivered on his behalf by The Oluwo Egba’s first son, Pastor Adeboye informed the crowded sitting room that the Egba Patriarch had planned a most quiet and humble 90th Birthday Anniversary within his nuclear family and confines of his moderate sitting room.
Pastor Adeboye reiterated that, the Adeyemi Adeboye Clan was flabbergasted and overwhelmed by the love and encomiums poured on their Patriarch who had come to celebrate the Oluwo with formal invitations.
He said, the entire family was very grateful and appreciative of the goodwill showered on their father by Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Alake, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo and the Egba Anglican Communion especially, the Saint Jude’s, Abeokuta.
About 25 Egba High Chiefs accompanied the Alake to the 90th Birthday Anniversary of the Oluwo of Ijeun and Egbaland, Chief Adeyemi Adeboye.
They included Balogun Sikirullah Atobatele, Seriki Tosin Fadare, Aare Ganiu Babayeju, Aro Yinka Kufiile, Bada (Dr) Femi Majekodunmi, Bantu Kehinde Sofenwa, Aare Baaroyin Layi Labode and others.
