It was a day of Commendations Galore for the Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Ishola, at the Alake Egbas Grand Reception for the visiting Benin Monarch at the Ake Palace on Wednesday 23 February, 2022.

 

 

The Chief Host of the Oba of Benin, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo And his Royal Guest, Oba of Benin Extolled the patriotism, professionalism and thorough understanding of Traditional and Cultural Values of Nigeria, including those of Egbaland and Benin Kingdom of Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Ishola.

In his commendations of the hard working and cerebral Nigeria’s High Commissioner to me UK, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, described the Tayese of Egbaland, Chief Tunji Ishola, as a best representation of the the time tested Egba cultural heritage and values as well as the Omoluwabi Yoruba System.

Oba Adedotun Gbadebo disclosed that High Chief Tunji Ishola was type cast as the Tayese of Egbaland because of his proverbial drive to build bridges among different peoples and his drives to ever impact and improve the lots of the people of all classes.

The Alake said he was not surprised about Ishola’s optimum performance as Nigeria’s UK High Commissioner, judging by his antecedents as Local Government Chairman, Secretary to Ogun State Government and Honourable Minister of Mines and Steel Development.

The Alake said Ambassador Tunji Ishola’s facilitation of Oba of Benin’s visit Abeokuta was another of his efficiency as bridge builder.

Speaking in the same vein, the Oba of Benin described Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Ishola as a dedicated Egba man, who exuded the love, pride and prosperity of Egbaland and Nigeria as a whole.

Oba Benin thanked Chief Tunji Ishola for positive accidental fulfilment of his age long ambition to visit Abeokuta as well as his active part in the recovery and return of the stolen Artifacts.

In his reply, Chief Tunji Ishola thanked the two brother Odudua descendant Monarchs for their accolades for him.

Ambassador Tunji Ishola noted that both the Alake and Oba of Benin had many common and enduring cultural and traditional affinities, which started in early Yoruba historical year, subsisting even till now.

He reassured that the Alake would repay in kind the good gesture of Oba Benin, by visiting Benin.

He also reassured the two Apex Traditional Rulers that he would continue to serve Nigeria’s best interests including those of his people.
