The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, CFR, Okukenu IV, has confirmed the unanimous appointment of Chief (Mrs) Kemi Oloyede as the new Iyaloja of Egbaland.
Oba Gbadebo disclosed the appointment in a letter to Chief (Mrs) Oloyede, who is currently the Otun Iyaloja of Egbaland until the conferment, during the regular meeting of market women at the Ake Palace, Abeokuta, on Wednesday, 9 December, 2020.
The conferment letter which was handed over to the honouree by the Alake through the Bantun of Egbaland, Chief Kehinde Sofenwa, read that she was honoured due to her invaluable and selfless services in Egbaland, particularly in the administration of Egba Markets, Ogun State, and Nigeria in general.
The letter was dated Monday, 7th of December, 2020, and it confirmed that the honour conferred on the Iyaloja-Elect was well deserved and based on the unanimous approval of all market stakeholders in the 6 Egba Local Government Areas of Ogun State.
Chief Kehinde Sofenwa also mentioned that the conferment of the Egba General Chieftaincy Title is scheduled to hold on Saturday, 26th of December, 2020, upon the honouree’s acceptance.
The Bantun also disclosed that the Titles of Otun Iyaloja and Bada Iyaloja would also be conferred on that day, adding that Chief (Mrs) Bamidele Adebowale is to become the Bada Iyaloja of Egbaland.
Egba High Chiefs present at the occasion included the GbegbaAje of Egbaland, Chief (Mrs) Tejumade Bakre, the Seriki Iyaloja of Egbaland, Chief (Mrs) Modupeola Labode, the OloriAje of Ibara, Chief Mutiu Ayinde, and many others.
