The Abeokuta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ABEOCCIMMA), is set to establish viable objectives to ensure the economic growth and development of Egbaland.
According to the President of Abeokuta Chamber of Commerce, Chief Olujare Oyesola, this would be by reviving various small and medium scale businesses, that were dead or dying in Egbaland, while at the same time creating new opportunities for benefit of the upcoming generation.
Chief Olujare Oyesola, who led a 15 man delegation to the Alake, disclosed this while addressing Oba Adedotun Gbadebo on Tuesday at the Ake Palace.
The ABEOCCIMA President requested the Egba Apex Monarch, to intervene in the Chamber’s bid for necessary land acquisition the proposed projects, upon which its Research Committee had done a lot of work.
He informed the Alake that, a Research Committee, comprising cognate and experienced experts of two former Vice Chancellors, a former Minister, Permanent Secretaries and others, had projected that 5,000 initial jobs would sooner than later, be created for the younger generation.
President of the ABEOCCIMA Group, Chief Jare Oyesola, stated that the newly formed ABEOCCIMA Economic Research and Development Group (ABERDEG), which he described as the Chambers’ economic development Think Tank, was initiated for the purpose of harnessing and contributing resources for the collective Socio-economic development of Egbaland.
Chief Jare Oyesola also said that one of the major objectives of the Group included enlightenment and empowerment of small businesses owners and formulation of growth plans and logistics development for businesses and industries in Ogun Central.
The President also disclosed that the Chamber had farming programmes in plan, as a way of stimulating the interests of the youths in agriculture and its value chain, adding that the Group encourages Youths to venture into planting of Cocoa, Cashew, Maize, Cassava, Fish farming, as well as poultry and piggery because of the high demands of these produce and products especially from neighbouring Countries like Republic of Benin.
He further appealed to the Alake to assist the Group in accessing the crown lands needed for the developmental projects, adding that this is the major challenge of the ABEOCCIMA.
Speaking further on the creation of initial 5,000 jobs, a former Vice Chancellor of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, and Chairman of the ABEOCCIMA Economic Research and Development Group (ABERDEG), Professor Saburi Adesanya, explained that his Committee had carried out a lot researches showing that Egbaland had a lot of land and local raw materials that could relaunch Egbaland in economic progress and prosperity.
Prof Adesanya also noted that the blessing and practical support of the Alake, was a sine qua non,in order to turn the many natural resources and innovations and rejuvenate the historical economic legacy of Egbaland.
He added that the research also revealed that some durable businesses which had not been done before in Egbaland were be created for the current and future generations.
He added that the ABEOCCIMA aimed at creating 5000 jobs for Ogun State Youths through business and technology incubation and industrial cluster programmes.
Responding, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, said that he appreciated the group for thinking towards the growth and development of Egba Economy.
Oba Gbadebo also commended them for bringing together of accomplished entrepreneurs, academics, and professionals to delegate on the economic development of Egbaland, and Ogun State in general.
The Egba Apex Monarch further said that Abeokuta had been a leader in the Chamber of Commerce line, after Lagos and is experienced even though Lagos has more companies.
The Alake added that Egbas should continue to serve as role models in education, transportation and Commerce.
He assured the ABEOCCIMA Group of his full support and prayed that they would succeed in their endeavours and be fulfilled.
