The Executive Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun has banned the leadership of the National Road Transport Workers in the State over the collection of revenues at parks and Garages on behalf of the State Government.
The Governor, who had suspended the NURTW activities following internal wrangling within the ranks of the union over the leadership positions made this known on Sunday in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Abdulwaheed Odusile that, the leadership of the NURTW and their operatives should stay away from all parks and garages in the state to avoid incurring the full wrath of the law.
According to him, this warning became germane following intelligent reports from State’s Security Operatives that, the Leaderships of the Union are planning to resume the collection of revenue on behalf of the Government at motor parks and Garages across the State.
The State’s National Assembly had in June 2020, passed a bill suspending the activities of the Union in the State following a crisis that almost claimed the existence of lives and properties.
Therefore, any resumption of the NURTW’s activities in the State is against the existing Law and such should be desist from, Abiodun added.
