The present administration in Ogun State has been commended for the regular and prompt payment of monthly pensions to Local Government, Primary School and Pre-1991 retirees in the State.
The Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Local Government Pensions, Mrs. Afolashade Kokumo gave the commendation while receiving members of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM), who were on a 5-day inspection to the Bureau in Abeokuta.
She relayed government’s assurance on payment of outstanding gratuities to retirees, as soon as funds were available, lauding Governor Dapo Abiodun led administration for making pensioners welfare one of its utmost priorities.
In his submission, the Senior Manager, State Operations Department, PENCOM, Mr. Murtala Modibbo said the visit was to assess the level of compliance with the enabling laws on the implementation of the Contributory and Defined Benefits Pension Scheme, not only in the Bureau of Local Government Pension but Ogun State in general.
He said the exercise was not an audit process, but being conducted yearly to assess the level of the Bureau’s compliance with the assessment parameters.
