Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun says efforts are on-going to revive the educational sector with a view to bringing it back to its place of pride.
Governor Abiodun made this known when he received Officers of the Nigeria Defence Headquarters, who came on a sensitisation tour of secondary schools in the State, noting that his administration would leave no stone unturned at ensuring tangible improvement in the educational sector.
Receiving the team on behalf of the Governor, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said that there was an assessment tour of some schools on assumption of Office and was shocked at their deplorable condition.
“At the resumption of Office, we declared a state of emergency on education and this covered a lot of issues ranging from management of our institutions, the condition of infrastructures, the welfare and training of the teachers. This is what we have worked with to restore the State to its rightful place as one of the top states in this country in the education sector. We are always known as a State of many firsts in different carriers and endeavours, and this was as a result of the value put on education in the State”, he said.
Earlier in his remarks, the team leader, Brigadier-General Idowu Akinlawon, said the purpose of the visit was to educate and sensitize secondary school students in the State on the various potentials in different fields in the Military and encourage them to enlist in the Nigerian Defence Academy as Cadets.
