ABIODUN SWEARS IN AS OGUN GOVERNOR, PROMISES FOCUSED GOVERNMENT

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun says, he is ready to lead a focused and people oriented government that will be fundamental to individuals and collective aspirations.

Abiodun, who made the pledge at his inauguration held at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, promised not to abuse the mandate and the trust reposed in him by the people, saying, his oath of office was a covenant with God to govern with character, serve diligently and make the interest of the people paramount.

Speaking on his policies and programmes, the Governor said, a work group that would liaise with relevant stakeholders to fashion out workable ways of moving the State forward has been constituted, while assuring of massive training and re- training of workers to improve service delivery, he said he would be open and just to all workers and pensioners.

“The Civil Service must be professionalised and empowered to carry out the basic mandate of running government operations effectively and efficiently.  We shall embark on massive re-training and relevant skills acquisition programs especially in ICT and related managerial and functional courses that will prepare our Civil Service for the great tasks ahead,” the Governor said.

He said Local Government Areas would be empowered and strengthened, as the development agenda of his administration would be fast tracked, when Local Governments are allowed to perform their statutory functions effectively.

 “My administration will involve a new and constitutionally backed arrangement that will make all local government responsive, responsible to the yearnings of the people. Our development agenda will be deepened and fast tracked,” he said.         

 While stating that his administration would be accountable to the people in the area of finance, Governor Abiodun said the State would fully implement the Treasury Single Account (TSA), full automation of the State’s finance, strengthen internal Audit functions, as well as ensure timely publication of State account.

He warned that the State would be unfavourable to criminally minded elements that plan to carry out unwholesome activities in the State, adding that security agencies have been mandated to deal with threats in any part of the State.
