The Independent National Electoral Commission has reacted to the allegation that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, offered the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Adamawa State, Kashim Gaidam, $1m and a house in metropolis.
INEC condemned the allegation in a very tweet on Mon
.The tweet was in reaction to a social media post that alleged that the previous vp had compromised the elections in Adamawa, his home state.
It read, “Breaking News: I rejected Atiku’s $1m bribe and a house in Dubai- Adamawa REC”.
But INEC condemned the post, saying, “The Adamawa INEC REC fully dissociates himself from the allegation that he had provide suggestion proposal of $1m and a house in metropolis as no offer some was ever created to him by anyone.”
This comes 2 days when the electoral body hold over the overall elections, that was ab initio scheduled to start on Saturday last week, by one week.
Following the postponement, INEC reopened campaigns for political parties before the elections begin on Saturday
The campaigns, however, expected to finish “by hour of Thursday, twenty one February 2019”.
