The Aladire Associations of Egbaland paid a courtesy visit to the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo,Okukenu IV.
Welcoming the Association to the Palace on behalf of the Alake, the Bantun of Egbaland, Chief Kehinde Sofenwa, commended the Association for making the Egbaland proud both culturally and economically.
Speaking further, Oba Adedotun Aremu said Egbaland is the original home of Adire culture, adding that other part of the world leant from Egbaland which has added to the land.
He urged the people to continue to add value to their business in order to sustain the growth and economic development of Egbaland
Oba Adedotun also advice the leadership to bring technology into the production of Adire materials in order to increase their output and by extension create more wealth
The Alake also disclosed that as a matter of routine and formality, he had been wearing Adire materials at least twice a week to official engagement in and outside Egbaland.
He also disclosed to the Association that he has been encouraging his chiefs and other Egba indigenes at home and abroad to show of Egba economic and cultural heritage through wearing Adire.
Speaking earlier on behalf of the her Association, the Iyaloja of Kemta Kampala market who is also the Otun Iyaloja of Egbaland , Chief Mrs Abeke Oluwakemi Oloyede informed the Alake that her association has come to formally informed the Alake the details about the Association Adire carnival, coming up on Saturday 8 December,2018 by 10am
Chief Oloyede said that the Association was very proud and delighted that His majesty, Oba Gbadebo has been very supportive of their Association. She also urged the youth to see Adire making as a job they can do instead of relying on the white colar job so as to help boost the economy .
