Airline Operations In Nigeria May Shut Down In 3 Days – Chairman Airpeace, Allen Onyema


Chairman, Airpeace, Allen Onyema has disclosed that, all the airlines might shut down operations in the next three days, if solution was not proffered to the lingering crisis of in the Aviation sector of country



Chairman/Managing Director of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, made this known, during his appeal at the investigative hearing into the price hike of ATK by oil marketers at the National Assembly, on Monday, 14th of March, 2022.


The Airpeace Boss reiterated that, the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), has formally requested for licensing of its members for the importation of Aviation Fuel otherwise known as ATK,  to end the perennial hike in the price and scarcity of ATK.


Mr Onyema stated that, the Airline Operators have the competence to import the required ATK for their operations without any hitches.


He noted that, they could afford to import the fuel, if NNPC could give them the licence.


Mr Onyema also expressed concern over the static insurance operations in the country, noting that, all the Insurance Companies operating in Nigeria could not afford to insure an aircraft, hence the recourse to foreign insurance companies.


Speaking during the hearing, the Deputy Speaker, Hon Ahmed Idris, who presided over the session after perusing through the documents submitted to him, accused the Oil Marketers of inflating the price of ATK and the exchange rate.
