Alake Charges Accountants To Sustain Its Integrity In Moderating Nigeria’s Business And Economy, As He Welcomes New ICAN President


The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, has charged Accounting practitioners to uphold their great standard of integrity in their professional contacts and moderation of the Nigeria’s Economy and Businesses as well as when they offer services to their clients.

Oba Gbadebo made the the call during a courtesy visit by the new President of the Institute of Chattered Accountants of Nigeria, Mrs Comfort Eyitayo, at the Ake Palace on Wednesday, 3rd of November, 2021.

Alake also said that ICAN stood for integrity, which is a virtue that will take the Nation to a greater level.

According to him, “We can never have enough accountants due to the amount discipline they bring into the polity and economy.”

Oba Gbadebo further said that Accountants were needed in all professions in order to make them viral, and survive

The Egba Apex Monarch recalled that the first female ICAN President, adding that out of the 57 Presidents the Institute, Egba could boast of 40.

He added that the Association was one that Egba was always very proud of.

Alake said, “Our number one problem is management of resources, and Accountants are managers of resources.”

He further charged them not to be tired of getting rid of the bad eggs among them, and preaching against insincerity.

In her speech, the ICAN President, Mrs Comcort Eyiytayo, said that she felt highly honoured to receive Alake’s warm welcome.

According to her, ICAN holds Traditional system which has better understanding of the yearnings of the grassroot.

She also said they hoped that the Alake would use his good offices to avail the government his vast experience.

She urged the Alake to help the government in tackling security architecture of the country.

She disclosed that ICAN also actively supports the anti corruption crusade.

“ICAN has made its positions known on national issues at the National Assembly such as in PIB, W-Naira, VAT, etc” she added.

The President also said ICAN had 67 districts apart from themselves, adding that others are in the UK, Canada, and with 53,000 members world wide.

CIIN Holds 2021 Insurance Professionals’ Forum In Abeokuta

The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), has commenced its 2021 Insurance Professionals’ Forum in Abeokuta, with a courtesy visit to the Palace of the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo.

The President of the CIIN, Sir Muftau Oyegunle, told the Alake at the Ake Palace, that the CIIN had come to seek the blessings of the Alake of Egbaland as well as invite him to grace the opening ceremony of the Forum at Park Inn.

Sir Muftau Oyegunle disclosed that the Forum was the largest anywhere in Nigeria, since 1991 adding that, the Institute afforded practitioners the opportunity of reviewing the activities in the business, share ideas and expertise, and also proffer solutions to operational challenges.

The President said the CIIN appreciated Alakes good works which had been ensuring peace and progress in Egbaland and Nigeria as a whole.

He added that the hospitality they received from Egbaland during last Forum had made them to come back for another edition.

He further said that the Council was proud of the Alake’s support, achievements and accomplishments over the years.

He prayed that Alake would continue to live a long healthy and glorious life, and continue to reign with wisdom for the growth and good of Egbaland.

Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, in his response, welcomed the President and members of the CIIN.

The Alake said that he used to know the difference between settlement of claim and payment of claim, adding that he was very much interested in insurance.

“I must commend your association, Your profession was saving people from great catastrophe.

Oba Gbadebo said that the CIIN activities had always mitigated what could have been a total eclipse of business, property and other endeavours.

Alake one could bring anything from abroad without having the Item insured, because anything could happen to the ship.

The Egba Apex Monarch however lamented that said that health insurance of the country was still very poor, adding that he wished that the various governments would work hand in hand with the CIIN, so that the poorest man who had malaria would not die from inability to buy drugs, adding that malaria is very prevalent in Nigeria.

Alake prayed that God would continue to guide the CIIN.

“When you come to Egbaland every year, we are always happy to receive you.” He said.

He added that the meaning of “Egba” is someone who opens his doors for others to come in, someone who entertains visitors.

He also told the President and his team to check out the Adire Mall in Kuto, Abeokuta, adding that Friday is the Adire day for all Senators in Ogun State.

He added that they should endeavour to visit the Olumo Rock, as well as the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), and the Abeokuta Golf Club.

Among the entourage of the CIIN President, Sir Muftau Oyegunle, was Hon Sunday Thomas Oluwadare – Commissioner for Insurance, Mr Edwin Igbiti – Deputy President, CIIN, Mrs Ilori Yetunde, Mrs Babington Ashaye, Mrs Yeside Oyetayo, Mr Bola Temowo, Mr Seun Balogun, Mr Gbenga Olawole, Mrs Abimbola Tiamiyu – DG, CIIN, Mr Kolawole Adebanjo, and others.

Egba Chiefs present at the occasion included Balogun Sikirullah Atobatele, Baagbimo Akanni Akinwale, Bantun Kehinde Sofenwa, Aare Baaroyin Layi Labode.
