Alake Commends Abeokuta Club’s President For Excellent Leadership; As He Pledges More Material Support.

The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland has commended the leadership of the Abeokuta Club for its commitment to the welfare and happiness of members as well as Egbaland.


The Alake’s remarks followed his commissioning of the 8-cubicle Toilet Facilities, donated by the 2021 Newly Inducted Members.

Oba Gbadebo lauded the President, his Executives and the generality of the Club, for commitment and patriotism to the Egba Nation.

He pledged to personally cause the upgrade of some existing Chief Sobo Sowemimo Pavillion toilet facilities to functional and modern standards.

The Abeokuta Club’s Grand Patron agreed with the Club’s President that, to add value to the newly built 8-Cubicle Toilet Facilities, it should be linked with a Gangway from the Hall to the Facility, to enable usage during in case of inclement weathers.

The Egba Apex Monarch thanked the committee in charge of the renovation of the Millennium Hall, adding, it was a job well-done and they should keep it up.

He appreciated the President in the effort put forward in ensuring that, the club developed into a grand one

He implored them to do more, adding that, the recently Commissioned project was just a start and 2022 would be filled with a lot of projects in the Club.

Oba Gbadebo reiterated that, having an Engineer as the president of the Club comes with a lot of goodies, adding, he would lay a proper foundation for the organisation.

In his welcome address, the Club’s President, Engineer Tokunbo Odebunmi, the Onimo-Ero of Egbaland, recalled that, Oba Gbadebo had relentlessly been working assiduously in mobilisation of Clubs, especially the Doyen and foremast Abeokuta Club, for overall growth and development of Egbaland.

President Tokunbo Odebunmi, recalled and thanked the Apex Egba Monarch for his recent mobilisation Egba compatriots to donate 10units of 5-Horse Power Commercial Air-conditioning Facilities for the Millennium Hall.

He recalled that, during the last induction, he charged the newly inducted members to look for particular project of interest and key on it.

The President noted that, having discussed about their agenda, two projects were identified; either to buy a transformer, which was necessary to improve power supply or to develop an Eight-Room Toilet facility, but the latter was chosen, which worth #10million.

Chief Odebunmi also told the Alake that, a Gangway would be constructed to facilitate movements from the Millennium Hall to the new Toilet Facilities, to make them functional all year round, regardless of vagaries of weather.

Chief Tokunbo appreciated his Executives and all members of the Club, adding that, he enjoyed his tenure as the President of the Club, because they had given absolute supports to all the programmes that were put before him

It was a full House of the Club’s Members and those present included, First Vice President; Dr Adeola, Second Vice President; Alhaji Nuru Oyedele, Social and Publicity Chairman, the Balogun Ido-Gbagura; Chief Ayodele Koleade, Bantun Kehinde Sofenwa and many others

They included member of Egba Traditional Council were; Onijale of Ijale Papa, Oba Michael Aderounmu, Ambassador (Chief) Toye Okanlawon, the Bobagunwa elect Egbaland and the President of Lisabi Elites Club.

Some Elders of the Club at the occasion were; Chief Fatai Lawal, Agoro Egba; Chief Doja Adewolu and Spouse and Retired Justice Bode Popoola.

Among others were Chiefs OgoOluwa Bankole, Chief Tunji Labode, Chief (Mrs) Ladun Folarin with Son; Tunde and Daughter-In-Law; Moji, Dr Taiwo Sogunle, Chief Rahman Bello, Alhaji J. A Popoola and Wife, Chief Shina Luwoye, Chief Sesan Okutoro, Engineer Ademola Agboola, Chief Bills Popoola, Bldr. Sunday Adesina, Chief Sola Otesile, Chief Semiu Oganla, Chief Woke Babatunde, Engineer Mutiu Odesanya, Prof. Akeem Oyekanmi, Dr Kayode Akinlawon, Mr Musibau Adeyeye and others

Others in the Roll Call were, Baamofin of Egbaland; Chief Sunday Odutan, Baba Adeen of Egbaland; Chief Rasheed Raji and Aare Baaroyin Layi Labode
