The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Michael Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, CFR, Okukenu IV, has called on Egbas in various locations in Nigeria and in diaspora to note and respect the sensitivities of their host communities in order to achieve understanding, love and prosperity.
The Alake made the remarks during a Send-Forth Ceremony in Honour of Professor Saburi Adejimi Adesanya, the Immediate past Vice Chancellor of OOU, Ago-Iwoye.
Oba Gbadebo noted that the Egbas are naturally and proverbially hospitable host to Government, Businesses and Residents in Abeokuta and other parts of EGBALAND.
He added that this explains why Abeokuta has been hosting OGUN State as its capital since 1983 with uttermost understanding and friendship.
The Alake referred to Prof. Saburi as one of the best examples and ambassadors of the Egba nation while he headed the Olabisi Onabanjo University as its Vice Chancellor through his Egba traditional understanding, respect and accommodation of other interests and environment.
As a result of this attitude, the Egba Monarch said that Prof. Saburi Adesanya was able to achieve great and long term successes for the University and earned himself a lot of respect.
The Alake noted with total satisfaction that the entire Egbaland was happy and excited when the National University Commission approved the appointment of Chief Ebenezer Obey as a visiting Professor of Music at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, thereby preserving and documenting the works of the most gifted artiste for posterity and academic World.
Oba Gbadebo commended the Egba Decendants Union (ASSED), of Ijebuland for recognizing and honoring the Former Vice Chancellor, urging them to be good ambassadors of Egbaland at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye and throughout Ijebuland.
The Alake also noted with satisfaction that as a result of Prof. Saburi Excellent performances at OOU, Ago-Iwoye, the Former Vice Chancellor has been appointed as a member of National University Commission, NUC, Abuja.
Among other dignitaries present at the occasion were the Oluwo of Oke Ona Egba, Dr (Chief) Taiwo Jiboku, Dr (Chief) Tunji Sotoyinbo, Prince Ademola, Oba Femi Taylor, Oba Otunba , Baagbimo and Aare Baaroyin of Egbaland.
