Alake Installs A New Monarch


Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, installed a new first class Egba monarch on Friday, September 24th, 2021.

He is Oba Umar Ajibola Hamzat, the new Olu of Afowowa Kingdom, who was installed today at the Ake Palace, Abeokuta.

In his address at the installation, Alake stated that before anybody could be installed as a Monarch, the qualities and developmental contributions of the person possesses were always checked.

Alake added that the new Afowowa Monarch, Umar Hamzat was the rightful kin to be installed as the new monarch, adding that his father had laid down a good legacy in the Kingdom, during his tenure.

Oba Gbadebo recalled that the former King of Afowowa, Late Oba Mufutau Olatunji Hamzat was a good man in his lifetime and that he was a friend to all.

Speaking further, Alake urged the new King Umar Hamzat to follow his late father’s footprint.

He tasked the new Afowowa monarch to continue to bring development to the land as his late father had done.

Alake also advised the new Olu of Afowowa, to open his doors to everybody in his domain, as well as those who could badmouth him.

He further implored him to render favour to people regardless of their status, background or relationship.

The Egba Apex Monarch also admonished the new monarch to welcome all shades of comments from people, adding that criticism is inevitable to anyone that becomes King.

Oba Gbadebo prayed that the new Afowowa monarch’s reign would continue to bring peace, happiness and growth to the land.

He also prayed that Oba Umar Hamzat’s installation as the new monarch of Afowowa kingdom would never bring regrets, adding that people would bring issues to him and return home with laughter.

Egba sectional Monarchs present at the installation included Olu of Siun, Oba Lawrence Odeyinka; Olu Itori, Oba Fatai Akamo; Olu Odeda, and Oba Moruf Adebayo, Olu Tafin-Elect.

Egba Chiefs present at the occasion included Balogun Sikirullah Atobatele, Osi Olabode Mustapha, Baagbimo Akanni Akinwale, Bantun Kehinde Sofenwa, Akingboye, Shakiru Akingbade, Aare Baaroyin Layi Labode.
