Alake Installs First Alawo Erin Ode of Egbaland


As part of the activities marking the 16th Coronation Anniversary of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, a new Alawo Erin Ode of Egbaland has been installed on Saturday, 20th of November, 2021.

He is Chief Nurudeen Olaleye, Chairman, Ogun State Alternative Medicine Board.
He was installed as the first Alawo Erin Ode of Egbaland by the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, at the Ake Palace, Abeokuta, on Saturday.

Speaking during the installation, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo charged the first Alawo Erin Ode Egba to continue to promote the customs and traditions of Yorubaland.

He commended Chief Nurudeen Olaleye for his value adding leadership in the Ogun Alternative Medicine Board, adding that he had been a source of pride to Gbagura, Egbaland and Ogun State in general.

Alake further prayed that Almighty God would continue to give him the strength to contribute to the greater development and growth of Egbaland and beyond.

In his response, Chief Nurudeen Olaleye, the new Alawo Erin Ode of Egbaland, who is also the Balogun of Ira, Gbaguraland, thanked the Alake and his cabinet deeming it fit to confer the title of first Alawo Erin of Egbaland on him.

Chief Olaleye also thanked the Agura of Gbagura, Oba Saburee Babajide Bakre for his love and support.

Alawo Erin Egba further assured the Alake of Egbaland that he would cooperate with Egba sons and daughters to raise the standards of the Egbaland traditional institutions, as well as contributing towards the greater development of the Egba Nation.

Other deserving Egba sons and daughters who bagged chieftaincy titles on Saturday, during Alake’s 16th Coronation included Chief Sabur Olayiwola Olawale, and Chief Mrs Shakirat Abosede Olawale, as the Seriki Bobagunwa and Erelu Seriki Bobagunwa of Egbaland, Chief Rasaq Olusola Sotayo as the Borokini of Egbaland, Chief Akinbiyi Akinkunmi as the Osi Jagunmolu of Egbaland, Chief Alexander Ajibade Alani Ogunmuyiwa and Chief (Mrs) Carolyn Ogunmuyiwa as the Esiki Egba and Erelu Esiki Egba.

Eminent personalities present at the occasion included Oba Saburee Babajide Bakre, the Agura of Gbagura; Oba AbdulFatai Akamo, the Olu of Itori; Oba Michael Aderounmu, the Onijale of Ijale papa; Oba Lawrence Odeyinka, Olu of Siun; Dr Tomi Coker, Ogun Commissioner for Health; Hon Afolabi Afuape, Ogun Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Oba-Elect Tafin Abdul Moruf Adebayo, and others.
