The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, has lauded the efforts and achievements of the Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Prof.Adewale Musa -Olomu, in his three years of administration.
The commendation was made through a letter delivered by two Egba High Chiefs, the Baaroyin of Egbaland, Chief Layi Labode; and the Bada AsojuOba, Chief Wole Odekunle, on Friday, July 17, 2020.
The Aare Baaroyin said that it was uncommon for the Alake to write a letter and direct that the letter be delivered by his Chiefs to the recipient.
He disclosed this exercise was to specially commend the wonderful and conspicuous efforts and results of the Medical Director in his past three years in office.
He revealed that, before the coming of Professor Musa-Olomu it was a norm for the FMC to go to the Palace to make complaints about the Medical Institution, adding that, this had been non-existing since Prof Musa Olomu has been in administration.
He noted that the complaints and mutual campaigns of calumny about the Medical establishment, which inaundated the Alake’s Palace for Royal intervention and resolution, had now been replaced with testimonies and testimonials from the Management, staff, and patients, about very good service and conducive atmosphere in the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta.
The Alake’s congratulatory letter to the Medical Director, commended his efforts towards building an enduring institution, which would be first of its kind in the whole of Nigeria, and his effective management of scarce resources.
Oba Gbadebo also appreciated his efforts in creating employment opportunities and resource centres in the Hospital.
The Alake further described Professor Musa-Olomu as most outstanding Chief Executive Officer among his contemporaries in other Federal Medical Centres in Nigeria as whole, concluding that the Egba Nation was very proud of his monumental and sustainable achievements.
In his response, the Medical Director of FMC, Abeokuta, Prof.. Musa Olomu, noted with satisfaction that the delivery of Alake’s Goodwill Message marked a most joyful chapter in his life.
The FMC Abeokuta’s helmsman expressed a heartfelt appreciation for the honour and recognition by the Egba Paramount Ruler and his Chiefs pledging to work even harder not to disappoint the Alake, his employers- the Federal Government and Nigerians by ensuring that the Medical Centre witnesses greater growths and developments.
Prof Musa-Olomu also noted that Ogun State had never witnessed the kind of ongoing development since inception in the State, as happening in Oba Gbadebo’s tenure, because of the enabling environment in Abeokuta and Ogun State, which had made it easier to carry out more developmental programmes.
He also disclosed that the Alake’s influence and support had been very helpful to the Management in carrying out the affairs of the Institution.
The Medical Director further stated that in enduring appreciation of Oba Adedotun Gbadebo’s great contributions to the FMC’s Growth and Development, the new Pharmacy Complex, which is under construction, would be named after the Egba Apex Monarch, adding that as drugs are mostly the important materials in any Hospital, the Pharmacy Block would be appropriably named after Alake to showcase his important and supportive roles in the FMC.
Prof. Olomu assured and pledged that greater developments and effective service delivery would be re-emphasised in the Hospital.
He also revealed that the Royal Colleges of England and France are willing to partner with the Federal Medical Institution, Abeokuta’s educational agenda, adding that the new Institution of FMC will be an internationally connected Institution.
