The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, has said that he never had anything against the Brewery Giant, located at Orile Imo, in Egbaland, personally.
Rather, the Egba Apex Monarch explained that, he was only asking the Big Company to add value to lives and living standard of the people of the Egba Axis, through employment, empowerment and engagement of the people in communal friendliness.
Oba Adedotun Gbadebo made this known when receiving on audience, some senior management members of the International Breweries Limited, Orile Imo, near Abeokuta, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Ake Palace in Friday, 26 November, 2021.
The Alake further disclosed that it was incumbent on the resident Company to treat their host community with love, partnership and equity, thereby making them to see the business as part ownership.
Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, however commended the Management Team, comprising the Director of Corporate Affairs and Legal Adviser, Mrs Oguntokun Temitope, the Plant Manager, Mr Tayo Oguntade, and Ms Stella Sawyerr, Public Relations Manager, for their Courtesy Visit to throw more light on their corporate intervention programme in the area, adding that, being the biggest Brewery in Nigeria, they should do more for Egbas at Orile Imo and environments.I
Alake said he was happy about the empowerment of the youth, provision of water and electricity for some villages in the area, he urged them to add more value by making it go round.
Speaking earlier, the Director of Corporate Affairs and Legal Adviser, Mrs Oguntokun Temitope appreciated the Alake of Egbaland for his usual warm welcome and fatherly role played.
She also said that they had also found out as an organisation, the need to improve on their engagement with their immediate communities, and also give visibility to what they do.
Mrs Oguntokun further added that they take the issue of their host communities seriously, and they were ready to take correction on the angle where improvement was needed.
She recalled that they put an electricity project in Bara Community, adding that they were perpetually in darkness at the place beforehand, but this had made the Community develop in terms of business orientation.
She noted that a Bore-Hole project was made for Ologbara Community and a Health Care Centre was also built at Owode by the Company.
She disclosed that they had gotten plans to do more but thy were very mindful of their 2021 budget.
Mrs Oguntokun further stated that they have a Youth Empowerment Programme, called ‘Kick Start,’ where they empower youths across Nigeria, in terms of their Community Social Responsibility.
She added that, they had been running the programme for six years.
Mrs Oguntokun disclosed that during this year’s Programme, seven beneficiaries were taken from Ogun State and four from their Host Communities.
