Alake Urges New Island Club’s Chairman And Executive Committee To Sustain Age-Long Tradition Of Integrity, Fairness And Cosmopolitan Pedigree


The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, has urged the new Chairman of Island Club, Otunba Kehinde Shitta, and his executive members to sustain age-long tradition of Integrity, Fairness and Cosmopolitan Pedigree.

Oba Gadebo gave the urge during a courtesy visit of the Club to the Ake Palace on Tuesday, July 13, 2021.

Alake also described the Island Club as the number one Social Club in Nigeria.

Alake expressed displeasure about what happened last year.
Receiving the new Chairman and his Executive Committee members at the Ake Palace on Tuesday, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, a Patron of the Club, described the Club as a foremost and detribalised Club in Nigeria.

The Egba Apex Monarch said that the founding fathers never liked discrimination of any kind, adding that he was happy that such a situation that looked like such had been nibbed in the bud and put behind.

He said that he had always put the Club in his heart, adding that he was the first to pay his donation for the Club’s new car park.

He congratulated the new Executive for showing the signs of “a best team,” judging the calibre of members and their backgrounds and prayed for the grand success of the team.

In his appreciation speech, the new Chairman, Otunba Kehinde Shitta, described the Alake as a great Royal Member and Socialite per excellence, belonging to high calibre Clubs in and outside Nigeria.

Otunba Kehinde Shitta profusely commended the Alake for serving his people with best leadership and the Island Club, excellently well.

He disclosed that the Island Club would be 78 this year and Alake would be the Royal Guest of honour at the occasion on 29 October this year.

Other members of the 9man Club’s delegation to the Alake were Apostle Rotimi Martins, Jagunmolu Owu- Ag. Vice President,; Chief Biodun Beyioku, Ag. Secretary; Mr Segun Ogundipe, Ag. Treasurer and Mr Olatunji Folami, Social Secretary.

Others were Ambassador Gani Lawal, Ag. Assistant General Secretary; Chief Rotimi Coker, Ag. Social Secretary; Engr Oladele Amoda, Management Committee and Alhaji Kayode OnI Animasaun, Management Committee member.

Egba High Chiefs at the occasion were Balogun Sikiru Atobatele, Osi Bode Mustapha, Aare Ganiyu Babayeju, Baagbimo Akanni Akinwale, Bantun Kehinde Sofenwa Akingboye Sakiru Akingbade and Aare Baaroyin Layi Labode.
