The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, his Majesty, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, has called on Muslims to work and pray for local and national cohesion among various groups in Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.
Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, in his Sallah message to Muslims in Egbaland and Nigeria in general, said that both Muslims and people of other faiths, had to think of the gains and benefits that would accrue to both our immediate environment and the nation as a whole if we all imbibed mutual understanding and respect for one another instead of mutual distrust.
The Egba Paramount Monarch noted that, the country was now going through difficult moments and the Egbas should join in the national vanguard to return the nation to the path of mutual love and sanity.
The Alake therefore urged Muslims and others to learn and practise tolerance and accommodation of others anywhere we found ourselves.
The Egba Monarch enjoined all Nigerians to emulate the obedience and dedication of the Holy Prophet Ibrahim by respecting chosen leaders adding that the leaders in turn were obligated to govern with the fear of God and compassion for the people.
