The Elega Market has got new New Market leaders. They are Alhaja Chief Aisha Akande, the Iyaloja and the Otun, Alhaja Ganiat.
The two Market women leaders were presented to the the OkeOna Chiefs and market stakeholders at the Elega Market on Thursday, 13 August, 2020 amidst pomp and pageantry and cultural dances and displays, by the Iyaloja of OkeOna Egba, High Chief (Mrs) Yemisi Alogi.
Speaking on behalf of the Oshile OkeOna Egba, Oba (Dr.) Adedapo Tejuoso, while crowning the two new marker women leaders, the Iyalode of Egbaland, High Chief (Mrs) Alaba Lawson, restated that His Majesty, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, remained the prescribed authority to all markets in Oke Ona Egba.
Iyalode Alaba Lawson said that the authority of the Oshile OkeOna Egba could not be challenged by anybody so far that the Monarch had always run the affairs of OkeOna Egba with the fear of God, equity, justice and nondiscrimination.
The Iyalode of Yorubaland also disclosed that, the newly confirmed Iyaloja Elegant, Alhaja Aisha Akande was a bonafide Egba indigene, married to an Egba man and blessed with Egba children.
The Iyalode therefore called on market men and women to cooperate with the new market leaders in order to promote peace and prosperity at the market, OkeOna and the entire Egbaland.
Chief Alaba Lawson, the Iyalode of Egbaland and Yoruba, disclosed that the Oshile OkeOna Egba had confirmed Alhaja Aishat Akande as the Iyaloja of Elega Market and Alhaja Ganiat as the Otun Iyaloja Elega and they were accordingly presented and crowned by the Iyaloja of Oke Ona Egba, Chief (Mrs) Yemisi Alogi.
Meanwhile the Babaloja Elega, Alhaji Wasiu Adesina Oloyede and the Baale Elega, Chief Yaya Hassan were also crowned by the Akinrogun of Ilugun on behalf of Osile of Oke Ona Egba.
Speaking at the occasion, the Akinrogun, Ilugun OkeOna, said that he was performing the ceremony on behalf of the Oshile OkeOna Egba.
The Akinrogun urged the two Chiefs to be loyal to the Oshile and lead their people with honesty and fairness.
The occasion was characterised with dancing round the entire market and cultural displays.
