Amosun Discloses To The Alake, Why He Sacrificed Ambition To Be The Next Nigeria’s President

A former Governor of Ogun State and current serving Ogun Central Senator, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has given more details on why he sacrificed his ambition to be the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Senator Amosun, who was a frontline APC presidential aspirant in the just concluded APC Congress in Abuja, disclosed to the Alake and Egba Chiefs at the Ake Palace on Thursday 16 June 2022, that he chose the unity, understanding and committment to just, fair and equitable federalism over and above his personal interest.

Amosun disclosed further, that he and some other patriotic Nigerians both in the North and South, had to take quick and decisive action to ensure that APC Presidential Flag Bearer, would come from the South, regardless of ethnic, religious and other considerations.

He revealed that, he and other APC and Nigerian Patriots, were still hopeful of a greater and secured Nigerian Federation, in which everybody would have a sense of belonging,

He told the Alake and his chiefs that
Egbaland had been known to be in the forefront of western civilization, cohesion and understanding along Nigerians, adding that this socio-cultural background also informed his big sacrifice of his long cherished ambition to become Nigeria’s President after Mohammad Buhari’s administration in 2023.

The Senator therefore asked the Alake to pray for him as son, and the Aare-Aago of Egbaland, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, for resounding success at 2023 presidential and other polls.

Speaking further, Senator Amosun apologized for the short notice of his courtesy call on the Alake, which he explained, was informed by calls from the good people of Ogun State and his admirers including those with high stake commitment to seen him emerge as the APC flag bearer to come and address them on his sacrifice and endorsement of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the APC Standard Bearer.

In his response, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo appreciated Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s courtesy call adding that all committed and iconic ambassadors of the Egba Nation with proven records, were always welcomed at the Ake Palace at any time.

Oba Adedotun Gbadebo reconfirmed that Senator Ibikunle Amosun had been paying his dues to Egbaland, especially Abeokuta as the state capital, Ogun State with fairness and the Nigerian Federation as a whole, praying that Almighty God would accept the projections and strives of both Senator Ibikunle and the Aare-Aago of Egbaland Asiwaju Bola Tinubu come 2023 presidential elections.

In a related development, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, addressed a lagef444 crowd of supporters at the Ake Amphitheatre. Speaking at the occasion, the APC presidential aspirant again justified reasons why he decided to step down for the Aare-Aago of Egbaland and former Governor of Lagos State Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the APC presidential candidate.

The immediate past Governor of Ogun State disclosed that he had acted positively on behalf of his teeming supporters advices and compatriots of the APC both in the South and Northern part of Nigeria.

He reassured them that his patriotic and other committed APC Southwest Presidential Aspirants, had gone a long way in assuring that the APC Presidential Ticket came to the South and ultimately to the Southwest, with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as APC Flagbearer.

He expressed the optimism that with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu would be the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and people of Ogun State would be among the prime beneficiaries of Asiwaju Bola.

 

Many top-ranking APC leaders, from all part of Ogun State accompanied Senator Ibikunle Amosun in his courtesy call to the Alake, they included Senator Odebiyi representing Ogun west Senatorial District at the Senate, Derin Adebiyi a top APC leader, Prince Remi Adetayo an aspiring member of the National Assembly and Chief Lateef Adenekan. Egba chiefs at the occasion included Balogun Sikirullah Atobatele, Aare Ganiyu Babayeju, Baagbimo Akanni Akinwale, Bantun Kehinde Shofenwa and Aare Baaroyin Chief Layi Labode

Others included Boroji Lateef Lemboye, Chief Isiaka Amodemaja, Iyaloja Kemi Oloyede, Gbegbaaje Teju Bakre and Seriki Iyaloja Dupe Labode.
