South-West Governors have been commended for adopting the Community Policing and South Western Security Outfit, code named ‘Amotekun’, a feat which would go a long way in curbing insecurity.
The Chairman, Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC), Ayetoro Chapter, Mr. Gbenga Oladipe gave the commendation when he accompanied the newly posted Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Jimoh Abimbola on a familiarization visit to Alaye of Ayetoro, Oba Abdul-Azeez Adelakun in his Palace at Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen, he said the outfit would complement efforts of existing security agencies in the fight against crime and protection of lives and property across communities in the South-West.
‘’No community can develop socio-economically without the assurance of security within its boundaries. Therefore, the adoption of the security outfit is a welcome development which will foster peace in our areas”, Oladipe stated.
The PCRC Chairman advised government on good remuneration for the personnel to encourage them, advocating necessary sanctions on any erring member.
Speaking earlier, the DPO enjoined people in the area to cooperate with his men to maintain law and order in the domain, while warning motorists and Okada riders to desist from driving and riding against traffic, as anyone caught would be prosecuted.
