ABEOKUTA – There seems to be no end insight to the crisis rocking the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the governorship primary scheduled for Tuesday, as loyalists of two governorship aspirants Dapo Abiodun and Adekunle Akinlade clashed in Abeokuta on Monday night.
While the meeting was going on within the hall, some unidentified persons believed to be political thugs who came with the governorship aspirants stayed outside.
Other persons who were outside the venue including journalists scampered for safety while the governorship aspirants also ended the meeting abruptly .
Earlier before the violence, the Chairman of the electoral committee Muhammed Indabawa who led his other seven members of the committee to the state told journalists, members of the APC state executives and aspirants present at the meeting that he has all the necessary materials and document for the conduct of the primary election which will usher in the candidates of the party in the state.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Modupe Mujota has directed the immediate closure of all public and private schools in the state due to the APC primary election in the state.
NEWS FLAGSHIP gathered that, the closure of schools in the state was premeditated by the fact that, most of the public schools are used as venue for ward meetings where primary election will take place.
