Arakanga and Ikenne main water treatment plants, supplying Abeokuta metropolis and Ikenne environs have commenced supply of potable water to the people of the areas.
A release signed by the Ogun State Water Corporation Public Relation Officer, Mr. Olatunji Somide, stated that potable water started flowing in Abeokuta and 14 other major towns, as well as Ikenne township, after the completion of repair works on the faulty 7.5MKV Power Transformer of the plant and the rehabilitation of Ikenne Water Scheme.
It added that rehabilitation of water supply scheme at Iperu, Oni, Ago-Iwoye, Ibefun, Omu, Ikangba, Imoru, Idowa, Ipokia, Ibooro, Owode-Yewa, Igbogila and Igbesa were on-going and supply of drinkable water would resume soon.
According to the release, these feats were results of quick intervention by the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, after the inspection visits to the Arakanga Water Treatment Plant and Barrage, the Old Water Treatment Plant.
Appreciating the general public for their patience during shortage of water supply, the release urged the populace to make judicious use of potable water, appealing to them to reciprocate government’s gesture by paying their water bills regularly and ensure prompt report of water leakages.
