The British Authorities on Thursday confirmed that the body retrieved from the plan wreckage had been formally identified as Emiliano Sala.
The Argentine footballer and his pilot David Ibbotson crashed more than two weeks ago during a trip from the French city Nantes to Welsh city of Cardiff when they lost contact with air traffic control near Guernsey on January 21
The wreckage was however discovered earlier this week by a recovery crew hired by Sala’s family after the official search operation had been called off.
The pilot David Ibbotson is however yet to be found by the rescue party.
Sala, 28, was flying to his new Premier League team when the aircraft disappeared over the sea.
It was however reported that Sala had sent a message, stating that the plane was about to crash before the crash occurred.
“We’re up in the plane and it seems it’s about to crash,” said the message, which Clarin said was verified by Sala’s father, Horacio Sala.
In a statement signed by Cardiff City on Thursday, the club paid their condolence to the family stating that both “He and David will forever remain in our thoughts”
