The Ogun State Chairman, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Tomiwa Bamgbose has implored the Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Felix Kolawole Salako to disregard the assassination claim by a former Student of the University, Ifemosu Michael Adewale.
Ifemosu in an online video accused the Vice-Chancellor of plotting to assassinate him over his outburst against the university’s management.
While addressing journalists on Friday at the school campus, the NANS Chairman said Ifemosu was only looking for cheap publicity and seek sympathy from the students populace.
Comrade Bamgbose added that, the students’ body as pressure group would not allow anybody to rubbish the image of the institution for selfish and political motive.
He explained that, the claim of assassination by Ifemosu was baseless and the incident he referred to was a robbery operation at Apakila Camp area of Abeokuta.
The students therefore passed vote of confidence on the Vice Chancellor and the entire management of the University for ensuring transparency and fair-hearing on the matter.
“Disregard Ifemosu claim. He is looking for cheap publicity. In as much as we try to protect the welfare of the students, we will not allow anybody to tarnish the image of the institution that give our students certificates.
“When the issue arose, as students body, we investigated the case, and discovered that, the allegation was baseless and unfounded. The issue he was referring to was a robbery incident that took place in Apakila Camp area of the state capital.
“We hereby pass vote of confidence on the management of FUNAAB. Professor Salako is a man of good repute and unblemished character. He has never for once been brutal.
“I want to urge all FUNAABites to disregard this allegation. We admonish all students of FUNAAB to distance themselves from the #SaveFunaabActionCommittee fund raising. It is a fraud. It is not a fund collected towards the peace of FUNAAB.”
