Towards ensuring professional conduct and international best practices in financial rules and regulations, Ogun State government has charged Financial Institutions to make accountability and transparency their watchword, as it won’t tolerate any shady financial report.

The Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo made this known during the inaugural meeting with representatives of financial institutions operating within the State held at the Conference room of the Ministry of Finance, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Okubadejo noted that, with the introduction of Digital Transformation System and Central Billing System (CBS), government would be able to efficiently and effectively monitor transactions and prevent leakages, as well as make revenue payment collection easy for both tax payers and government.

“When we talk about efficiency and accountability in our transaction, Digital Transformation System and Central Billing System(CBS) being introduced, will serve as mechanism for preventing financial leakages that occurred in revenue generation to the barest minimal. Our expectation from you is to provide efficient service delivery, take us seriously, as we will be professional; no shady dealings and any bank found wanting will be sanctioned”, Okubadejo warned.

Also, charging the representatives of the banks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Hassan Adekunle said the Ministry would be extending hands of fellowship and it was expected of the banks to supply necessary information that were not limited to financial matters, but also in other areas, where necessary.

Buttressing the need for financial institutions’ co-operation, the State’s Accountant General, Mr. Michael Idowu said they should not relent in strategically assisting government in revenue mobilization, as government’s infrastructure drive cannot be achieved without funds.

Responding, the Manager, First Bank Plc, Mr. Adeniran Oladele said all hands are on deck to work with the present administration and also ready to give their full cooperation to take the State to an enviable height.
