Ogun State Head of Service, Tpl (Mrs.) Amope Chokor has charged teachers across the State to be disciplined and be available in schools, in order to impact knowledge on the students for a better society.
Mrs. Chokor gave this charge while receiving Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) members, who were on a courtesy visit to her office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, urging them to support the present Government by monitoring teachers’ productivity and improve on services rendered in various schools in the State, as Governor Abiodun’s administration was renovating one school per Ward to give education a facelift, as well as committed to improving the welfare of workers in the State.
“We want to thank the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for increasing our minimum wage from
N18,250 to N30,500. We have seen his willingness to take care of us, so, let’s support the Government by improving the services rendered in our schools.
You should be proud of your profession as teachers, be available in classrooms, not staff rooms and impact the students with knowledge. I want to charge Union members to monitor teachers’ productivity because it should be the most disciplined of all professions”, she noted.
In his remark, the Chairman of the Union, Comrade Titilope Adebanjo, congratulated the HoS on her appointment, thanking the Governor for prompt payment of teachers’ salaries, his presence at 2019 World Teachers’ Day celebration and pronouncement of total pardon for the Union’s immediate past Chairman, Comrade Dare Ilekoya.
