ABEOKUTA – Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, has disclosed how he convinced former President, Olusegun Obasanjo to forgive his ex-Deputy and Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

NEWS FLAGSHIP recall that,  Kukah, Ahmad Gumi, a Kaduna-based Islamic cleric; and David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, among some other eminent personalities were last week present at the reconciliatory meeting between Obasanjo and Atiku in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

During the meeting, Obasanjo disclosed that he had forgiven Abubakar and was willing to help the Waziri of Adamawa mend fences internationally.

However, the Catholic Bishop in a chat with our Reporter said he had been working on both leaders reconciling for years, stating that he wanted the meeting to be between him, Obasanjo and Abubakar, the clergyman expressed delight that the parley took place.

He said, “I’m happy that at the end of the day, peace prevailed between the two leaders. What we are seeing today did not just happen suddenly. I have been at the longer throat of Chief Obasanjo for years to reconcile with his ex-VP and to God be the glory, they are back on track. “
