Breaking: Egba Traditional Council Loses An Iconic Chief and a Foremost Baba Ijo


A foremost businessman and Frontline Statutory Egba High Chief Solomon Olufunso Akinremi is dead.

He was 85.

Chief Solomon Olufunso Akinremi was until his death a second and third generations of Cocoa Magnate.

Sources close to the Ake Palace disclosed that High Chief Akinremi give up to the Glory in faraway United States of America in early hours of Tuesday June 24, 2021.

High Chief Akinremi had served diligently and generously in many assignments, which the Egba and Itori Communities bestowed on him.

He was the Balogun of Itori Odo and Ogboye of Egbaland
He succeeded that Medical Icon, Professor Thomas Adeoye Lambo, as the Baba Ijo of the African Church Cathedral Igbore, Abeokuta.

As a dedicated Christian, he single-handedly build the extension of Ake Palace Chapel.

He also virtually single-handedly built Saiint Saviour African Church Ojere, Abeokuta.

Chief S.O Akinremi would also be remembered for the Adroit and dexterous manner, by which he piloted the Egba Chieftaincy affairs as the Chairman of the Egba Conferment Committee for many years.

Chief S.O Akinremi whould also go down in history as a compassionate and God fearing man as he chaired the Egbadotun Poverty Alliavation Scheme, where he led by example and not by pretext, in his bold attempt to eradicate or at least reduce poverty in Egbaland.

His position as the Ogboye Egba, qualified him a second class Tranditional Ruler.

Sources close to Newsflagship disclosed that more details about the burial arrangements of high Chief Akinremi the Ogboye Egbaland were still been expected as at the time of this report.
