ABUJA-The Senate on Wednesday began investigation into the alleged assault of a woman at at an Abuja sex shop by Senator Elisha Abbo.
This is even activists organised protest at entrance of National Assembly against Senator Abbo.
The group was led by Aisha Yesuf as stern looking Military Police blocked the National Assembly entrance from the protesters.
Abbo, who is the youngest Senator in the ninth Senate, in a trending video assaulted a woman .
Investigation on Wikipedia site showed that Senator Abbo is an HIV victims who was denied admission into the Nigerian Naval Training College, Onne, Port Harcourt in 2004.
Coming under point of order, Senator Uba Sani said the issue has embarrassed him and his family members .
He said most of the constituents were calling to find out what real happened.
Also speaking in support of the motion, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele called for investigation into the matter to unravel the true situation of what transpired.
Contributing to the motion, Senate Minority leader, Eyinnaya Abaribe, stated that the Senate’s rules already provided how each and every senator should behave both within and outside the chamber therefore the matter should be investigated.
In his remarks, Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan, said he has received several calls concerning the matter and mandated the Committee to investigate the matter within two weeks and submit the report for consideration.
The Committee is to be chaired by Sam Egwu. Other Senators in the adhoc Committee are Oluremi Tinubu, Stella Oduah, Sani Musa, Matthew Urogbide, Danlansi Sankara and Haliru Jika.
