ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has pleaded with religious leaders in the state to continue to render their support and cooperation for his successor.
Amosun who spoke in what looked like his valedictory service at the Eid praying ground, Lantoro in Abeokuta on Tuesday disclosed that, he enjoyed unflinching support from both Muslim and Christian worshipers in the state.
Senator Amosun told the mammoth crowd that, only God knew who would succeed him in 2019, adding that, he was fulfilled leaving the government as an achiever, urging the people of the state to support anybody coming after him to sustain the transformation agenda of the state.
He said even as his administration was gradually preparing to hand over to a successor next year, he was still committed to delivering dividends of democracy to the residents.
He said, “There is still a lot more to be done, until the very last moment, we will not stop working and as you can see we are working round the clock.”
“I have enjoyed the best support as the leader of the state from both Muslim and Christian leaderships and folowerships.
“I want to thank the Egba Muslim community and its Spiritual head, Sheikh Imam Liadi Orunsolu for being steadfast and unwavering in their prayers and open support for my administration.
“Please, I want to enjoin to cooperate with whoever Allah had ordained to succeed me in order to sustain the transformation agenda going in Egbaland and Ogun State in general.”
Also speaking, the Baba Adeen of Yorubaland, Hon. Sarafa Tunji Ishola congratulated Governor Amosun for his achievements in the infrastructural development of the state, saying the Egba Muslim community would miss the governor’s midas touch in Egbaland.
In his own reaction, the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo enjoined all Egba sons and daughters to continue praying for Governor Amosun for his enduring legacy of good governance in the state.
