The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, has called on all Nigerians to encourage their children to learn a skill, while at school, in order to curtail crimes and reduce unemployment in the society.
Oba Gbadebo noted this, during his address to the Press, on the 35th Lisabi Festival, at the Ake Palace on Monday, 21st of February, 2022.
The Alake observed that, in order to restore peace and sanity back to the society, youths needed to be empowered morally, mentally and materially
Proffering immediate and long term solutions to the criminal ritual killings, especially by unknowledgeable youths, who were in a hurry to be quickly rich, Oba Gbadebo strongly advised that, the best approach to address the situation was to engage youths in one skill or the other.
He called on all parents to give their children, good moral upbringing, adding that immorality should be discouraged among them.
He recalled how our Forefathers had been able to nurture their children with discipline in the days past, noting that, all parents needed to go back and tap on those disciplinary measures in training their children.
The Egba Apex Monarch also urged the youths to represent the best behaviour and respect the cultural values of the land
According to the Egba Apex Monarch, ritual killings and internet fraud were as a result of unemployment, hence calling on all Nigerians to ensure their children were skill-oriented
The Alake also called on prominent individuals to create different platforms for youths to acquire skills in Nigeria, Ogun State and Egbaland
