Despite Security Challenges, We Would Carry Out Accurate Population Census In 2023- NPC Boss Assures Citizens

The Chairman, National Population Commission, NPC, Alhaji Nasir Isa Kwarra has assured Nigerians, that no security challengea would obstruct the Commission’s readiness in ensuring proper population census was carried out in 2023.

Alhaji Kwarra noted this, during the Commission’s courtesy call on the Egba Apex Monarch, at the Ake Palace on Monday, 25th of July, 2022.

The NPC Boss asserted that, despite the security crises in the country, adequate data for planning, to discover where infrastructural growth was needed, would be put in place, so as to provide a beautiful planning and greater development for the country.

Speaking further, the Chairman recalled that, the country had not had census in the past 16 years, but they had committed themselves in making sure, proper population census was carried out in 2023.

He told the Alake that, with the respect and regard being shown on him and other traditional leaders by people, it would be their utmost desire to pay homage to the Egba Paramount Ruler and to seek his support and blessings in achieving a successful census in 2023.

He further stated that, traditional rulers were the closest leaders to the people, whereby their support would be needed in tackling many criminalities in the grassroot level.

Alhaji Kwarra also disclosed to the Monarch that, in all the six geographical zones, they decided to choose a State in one of the zones for the exercise, which happens to be Ogun State, and in the State, they picked a Local Government, which was ‘Imeko Afon.’

He therefore appreciated the Alake for his immense support and contribution in the development of the nation.

In his response, The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo commended the efforts of the NPC National Boss, and especially the Ogun State Chairman, Yeye Oluwaseyi Aderinokun who had given the Commission a best name and image in the country.

Oba Gbadebo challenged the Commission to add what he described as “A most Accurate National Census” to Mr President’s enduring legacies by the time President Buhari would be handing over to his successor.

He posited that the Commission would have paid its dues, a flawless and a nationally acceptable head count, which would be added to the Nation’s achievements

The Alake warned that, Planning was a very important thing adding that the best way to plan the future was to know how many we were, because failure to plan was planning to fail.

He reiterated that, people needed to know how many people who went to school and those who were supposed to go to school, so as to plan for better future, such establishing more schools, hospitals and infrastructural development in the country

He noted that, by doing this, the Nigeria of future would be better than, what the nation was having presently.

The Egba Apex Monarch prayed that, the Commission would be more successful, and God would be with them and as they go round all the areas they were to put emphasis.
