ABUJA – The Deputy Inspector General of police in charge of Training and Administration, DIG Emmanuel Inyang has commended the leadership of National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), for its campaign violence and social vices among polytechnic students in Nigeria.
DIG Inyang stated this on Monday while receiving delegates of the Polytechnic students led by the Public Relations Officer, Comrade Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye at Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja.
DIG Inyang commended the NAPS leadership for its campaign against social vices such as rape, cyber crime, fraud, drug abuse, indecent dressing, kidnapping, cultism, examination malpractice across the nation’s Polytechnics.
He emphasised that, the association has assisted the police in curbing social vices among Nigerian polytechnics, urging them never to be deterred, assuring them of the readiness and commitment of the police force to partner with them.
In his reaction, the NAPS National PRO, Comrade Ijaduoye reiterated that, the students’ body has always strived to ensure peace and sanity in the nation, especially in areas where students live in.
He revealed that, as part of efforts to reduce crimes in Nigerian polytechnic campuses, is the forthcoming national lecture tagged “Students Against Violence Everywhere -SAVE” which would come up in November, 2018 at Woman Development Center, Opposite Central Bank of Nigeria, Abuja.
“Let me reiterate further more that, the National leadership of is also planning to organize sensitization of students on implications of violence, Building a strong students intellectual immune system against violence, serving as agents in down thronging violence in students community and to assist in breeding leaders who are worthy in learning and character.
“That is why we are here to solicit for the support of the DIG and partner with the Nigerian Police to have a successful campaign against criminalities among our campuses”, Comrade Ijaduoye stressed.
