ABEOKUTA-The former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, has been appointed the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Tai Solarin University of Education, TASUED, Ijagun Ijebu Ode.

The appointment of Professor Olaiya Balogun was announced in Abeokuta today by the State Government.

Professor Olaiya Balogun would be sworn in, alongside other members of the Council tomorrow by the Executive Governor of the State, Senator Ibikunle Amousun at the Council Chamber, Governor’s Office, Oke Mosan Abeokuta at 10am.

Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun is a veteran academic in Agriculture, whose tenure as a Deputy Vice Chancellor and Agricultural Programmes Coordinator, at the University of Ilorin, witnessed an astronomical increase in the internally generated revenue earnings from the Agricultural ventures of the tertiary institution.

Also as the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Professor Olaiya Balogun would be remembered for completing and commissioning 41 Projects in his first 30months and completing another 26 in the second half of his 5-year tenure.

At FUNAAB, Professor Balogun took a giant step forward when he digitalized the library, raised e-journals from less than 400 to over 7,000 and also introduced e-examination, thereby eliminating delay in release of examinations results.

Professor Balogun was honoured by the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, as the Fimogbayi of Egbaland on 26 May 2012.

Tai Solarin University of Education is the first professional teacher’s university in Nigeria.
