The hindrances standing in the way of Dr.Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala in becoming the Director General of the World Trade Organization, have been removed.
This was possible as a result of the decision made by Yoo Myung-hee, Okonjo Iweala’s only remaining competitor.
The South Korean Trade Minister Yoo Myung-hee withdrew from her responsibility as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, leaving former Nigerian Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, as the only remaining qualified and capable candidate.
It should be remembered that Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala served on Twitter’s Board of Directors, as Chair of the GAVI Vaccine Alliance.
Yoo Myung was said to have made this decision considering Ngozi Okonjo Iweala as the only qualified and capable one that can revitalize the multilateral organization.
Biden had been asked by the US government officials to endorse Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala after the administration of Trump halted her selection which gave room for Yoo Myung.
Okonjo Iweala would be the first African to be appointed as the Director-General of the World trade organization.
