The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland has been speaking on the outstanding background and qualifications of the new Provost of the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta.
Oba Gbadebo revealed this during the Commissioning of infrastructural projects which included the naming of the Institution’s Science Office Complex after Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, on Thursday, 23rd of September, 2021.
The Egba Apex Monarch disclosed that Dr Soyele had spent his entire life within the institution and is therefore very aquatinted with the various administrative and non administrative sections of FCE, Osiele.
He added that the Provost was once a student of the institution, and during which he was President of Students Union.
The Egba Paramount Monarch also said that Dr Soyele became a staff of the institution, he graduated to the post of Sub-Dean, then to Deputy Provost and now, he is the Provost.
Alake commended the steadfast commitment of the Provost towards the development of the institution, describing him as a most humble leader.
Speaking at the Commissioning of the Science Office Complex, the Egba Paramount Monarch said science was very important to human beings and should be recognised and taught rigorously in institutions.
According to him, Science and Engineering meant doing something that the world thinks is impossible, and make it possible.
He therefore urged, “Let us teach our children to try the impossible. That is how the white man survived the weather.”
Speaking earlier, the President of FCE, Osiele Alumni Association expressed great appreciation to the Alake for his fatherly support towards the greater development of the institution.
He further revealed that Dr Soyele was the first Alumni member that had attained the position of Provost in the history of the Institution.
The Alumni President also stated that he was proud that such great achievement was done during his tenure.
In his remarks, the Provost of Federal College of Education, Osiele, Dr R. A. Soyele, appreciated the Alake and his Chiefs for their recognition, efforts and contributions to the school.
Dr Soyele also specially thanked Oba Gbadebo for the laudable inputs to the administration of FCE, Osiele.
He therefore said that Alake’s love for education and humanity had earned him the honour of being recognised with the newly refurbished Technical Workshop, which was one of the merged TETFUND 2019 projects for the Staff and students of the Science Department of FCE, Osiele.
He added that Oba Gbadebo was being immortalised to also mark his 78th Birthday, which was on the 14th of September, 2021.
Other projects that were commissioned included the Students’ Hostel Road which was commissioned by Retired Navy Captain Rasheed Raji, former Governor of Sokoto and Bauchi and Agbaakin of Egbaland.
The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Admau, represented by Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim also commissioned the Students Affairs Building, which is a bungalow that houses the Dean of Student Affairs, Student Affairs Officers, Secretaries, and 9 other offices.
Also, the Christian Religious Student’s Building was commissioned by the Alake of Egbaland.
Other Egba high Chiefs present at the occasion included Aare Baaroyin Layi Labode, Bada AsojuOba Wole Odekunle, and Aare Bobagunwa Victor Adebayo.
Staff members of the Federal College of Education, Osiele present at the Occasion were, Hon. Chidi Abaga, Representative of the Minister of Education, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim, Academic Board Representatives, Dr. R.A Adetoro, Mr. J.B.
