ABEOKUTA – The Department of State Security Services have arrested two suspects for allegedly monitoring the Abeokuta residence of a former governor of Ogun state, Chief Olusegun Osoba with drone.

The suspects, a lady and a young man were caught on Tuesday evening while using drone to moniter activities within the premises of Chief Osoba’s residence located in Ibara GRA area of Abeokuta.

According to a press release made issued by one of Osoba’s assistants, Hon. Adekunle Adeyemi on Tuesday, private security guards attached to the house of the former governor brought down the drone.

Adeyemi said Chief Osoba had returned from the United Kingdom (UK) early Tuesday morning to attend a private meeting on the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary at his residence.

He also said that the invasion will be another attack in a series of breach of security on the house of the former governor.

“The political climate in the state has taken a major dimension with a major security breach and threat to former governor of Ogun state, Aremo Olusegun Osoba.

“Chief Osoba arrived Abeokuta on Tuesday from the UK to prepare for a private meeting where a private meeting on the peaceful conduct of the party presidential primary was to be discussed.

“Late afternoon on Tuesday, a lady and a young man were caught using drone to monitor goings in the expansive compound of Chief Osoba.

“Alert security staff of Chief Osoba were able to bring down the drone and got operators of the drone arrested.

“Neither of the arrested youngsters was able to give coherent explanation to Chief Osoba’s security staffs.

“Few years ago, unknown people invaded parts of the compound and took reasonable time to dig out buried armoured cables. This was done in most professional manner,” the statement reads.

Adeyemi added that the suspects have been taken to the custody of Department of State Security Service.

Meanwhile, efforts to get  official statement from DSS was unsuccessful, but a source within the DSS who confided in NEWSFLAGSHIP confirmed the arrest of the two suspects, but claimed that, the matter was not as being speculated on social media.
