Ecological Fund: “We would Not Rest Until Every Part of Egbaland Is Safe” – Alake

The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, CFR, Okukenu IV, has vowed that he and his cabinet would not rest until all the nooks and crannies of Egbaland is completely safe.

Oba Gbadebo made the statement during a courtesy visit by the Ijaye Council of Chiefs at the Ake Palace on Wednesday, 17th of November, 2021.

Alake recalled that the Federal Government’s Ecological Fund was solicited to cushion the effects of flooding and erosion in prone areas like Gbangba Ijaye, Olorunsogo, and others.

He added that the Ijaye people had come to thank him for his facilitating the assistance and the fatherly role played concerning the 2 phases of the project completed at Gbangba Ijaye.

The Alake also thanked the Federal Government for its prompt intervention and proper handling of the project.

The Egba Apex Monarch further advised that those who live in areas below sea level should move to the higher ground, not a place that is below water, to avoid flooding in their homes.

He added that wherever people moved to, that is on higher ground, and they’re still suffering from erosion, the government will surely intervene.

“I love the people of Egbaland. That is why I am the Alake.
Whatever is their pain is mine as well.” He said.

Among the Ijaye Chiefs present at the occasion are the Aare Ganiu Babayeju, the Balogun of Ijaye and Aare of Egbaland, Aare Layi Labode, the Otun of Ijaye and Chief Abolade Kamilu, the Dagunja of Ijaye, among others.
