For any group of people or nations to be Great, it is education that changes their lives for the better and make live worth living.
The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, made the remarks while addressing a team of the Federal Ministry of Education and Unity Colleges Accountants, who paid him a courtesy visit in Abeokuta on Wednesday.
Oba Adedotun Gbadebo noted that formal and informal education was the Game Changer, that made many some poor and third world countries like China, Malaysia Singapore as well the so-called Asian Tigers and others greater than their Third world counterparts in Africa.
Oba Adedotun Gbadebo commended the Federal Ministry of Education Accountants for deeming it fit and proper to train and retrain their staff in order to make them performed maximally.
The Alake recalled that it was Western education that gave the Egba Nation a head start in many professions such as Accountancy, Medicine, Law and other, adding that Federal Ministry of Education should sustain and upgrade their knowledge all the time.
Oba Gbadebo also urged members of the Entourage, numbering about 50, from all over the country to visit Cultural Heritage Sites in Abeokuta before they would leave Abeokuta, such as Afire Markets in Itoku and Adatan, Olumo Rock, Obasanjo Presidential Library, the only of its kind in Africa, the first Hospital in Nigeria, the Sacred Heart, and others.
Responding, the Team leader of the Conference, Prince Adetokunbo Adebanjo (Ogbagba), told the Alake that is was the enduring policy of the Federal Ministry of Education, to train and retrain its staff to be abreast of modern trend in in the Accounting Profession.
Prince Adetokunbo Adebanjo (Ogbagba), disclosed that the four day Annual Retreat was aimed at enduring that those handling the finances of Government, especially Federal Ministry of Education, are ethical and professional to the core in their service delivery.
The Conference leader disclosed that, the Training Seminar had been taking round the country and this time around, Abeokuta was chosen because of its on going development and facilities for the exercise.
He congratulated the Alake for the growth and structural development in Abeokuta alongside with peace and security.
Prince Adetokunbo Adebanjo further appreciated the Alake, as the Chief Host of the Ogun State Capital, for creating enabling environment for economic and tourism activities to be taking place in it, adding that the Conference would be coming to Abeokuta for same exercise in future.
Members of the Conference Entourage include, the Coordinator of the programme, Mr.Bode Omolosho Ayanwole, the Representatives of Federal Unity Colleges Bursars’ Mr. James Emmanuel, Mr Edimeh Alhassan John, Mr Aminu Inuwa, Mr Salihu Mairiga, Mr Tijani Bello and Mr Ugwa Onwuzulu Obed.
