The President, Egba Economic Summit, Chief Tunji Sumonu has commended the Director of Federal Technical Incubation Centre near Abeokuta, Doctor John Oni for making the Centre relevant to the skills acquisitions and entrepreneurship development for the youth and unemployed in Egbaland.
Chief Tunji Sumonu made the remark after touring the facilities of the Incubation Centre, Onijaganjagan, near Abeokut. The Facilities included the NAFDAC approved Laboratory, Master Engineering, Machine Fabrication, Paper Converter, Fish Smoking Sheds and tens of others locally produced products for local consumption and exports.
Chief Sumonu disclosed that Egba Indigenes Abroad were being mobilized financially and materially to train 150 Egba youths Annually in various skills and entrepreneurship on scholarship
The Summit President noted the joy that the training and nurturing facilities being offered by the Federal Technical Incubation Centre were good enough to train Egba Youths and School Leavers in skills acquisition and entrepreneurship for the short and long term program to create wealth balance.
He also disclosed that the Egba Economic Summit had already arranged a general training program for the Egba Youths and School leavers in early next Month, adding that the director of FTIC and his management team would be invited a major resource fellow for the program
In his own contribution Engineer Tokunbo Odebunmi, a member of the summit said that the FTIC Facilities for the Economy breakthrough in Nigeria had been under-utilized.
Engineer Tokunbo said that it was high-time there was a collaboration and cooperations amongst various organs of the Government Agencies and NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) in order to enhance value chain as a solution to ensuring that everybody is gainfully employed.
In his welcome address, The Director of the FTIC, Doctor John Olarenwaju Oni, told the Visitors that the Centre had now surpassed Ordinary Incubation Centre.
He disclosed that the Centre had facilities for training in skills and entrepreneurship which included advanced incubation period during which the business would grow into entrepreneurship and more importantly Industrial Park which he hoped would be like Silicon Valley in the USA.
Doctor Oni also commended the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for his active support of the Centre towards making the Facility one the breakthroughs of Economic Empowerment of the Citizens of the State.
The FTIC Director also disclosed that in the next few months that the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led Administration would supply the Centre with adequate power supply.
The Chairman, FTIC, Advisory committee, Chief Olootu Layi Labode urged the President and members of Egba Economic Summit to take advantage of nearness of location and adequate modern Facilities offered by the Centre towards the realization of the groups single minded intentions of eradication of poverty and generally empowerment of the Egbas
The Baaroyin commended both the past and present leadership of the group for the sustenance of their mission to make Egbaland better and Economically and Socially stable.
