The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, on Sunday joined the Club’s July 2021 meeting.
Oba Adedotun Gbadebo was accompanied by the Aro of Egbaland, High Chief Oluyinka Kufiile, who told the Newsflagship that, the Alake, occasionally attended the Club’s meetings or any functions to show the Royal Support for the Club without formalities.
The President of the Club, and the Onimo-Ero Egba, Engineer Tokunbo Odebunmi, expressed the Club’s appreciation to the Egba Apex Monarch for his love and proverbial support of the Club.
Meanwhile six new members were inducted into Abeokuta Club on Sunday 4 July 2021 by the President, Engineer Tokunbo Odebunmi.
The newly Introduced Members of the Club were Mr. Abdulahi Olanrewaju Okanlawon, A Retired Banker now a big time Farmer; Alhaji Najeem Akanni Jimoh, A Media Consultant and a former Editor of the Punch Newspapers; and Prof. Verni Oke, a Professor of Law at the University of Lagos, Lagos.
Others were Chief Oluwole Jonathan Odekunle, a Business Mogul, Real Estate Consultant and incubent President of the Lisabi Elites Club, Abeokuta; Dr. Afis Akanni Paul Agboola: Medical Director, Federal NeuroPsychiatric Hospital Aro, Abeokuta and Mr. Adeyinka Moyosore Kotoye: A Lagos based Legal Practitioner.
Speaking on the occasion, the President, Engineer Chief Tokunbo Odebunmi, said that, the inductees had been screened and found to be eloquently qualified to members of the foremost Cultural Club by their pedigree and antecedents.
President Tokunbo Odebunmi charged them to add value to Abeokuta Club’s philosophy of being a vanguard for Egba Nation’s Rapid Growth and Development, in order to make the Egba Nation greater.
The new members made various pledges for the much needed facilities and utilities for the Club. These included Giant Hall Air conditioners and Smaller ones for the Guest Rooms as well as refrigerators for Guest rooms. One of them offered to upgrade male and female comfort rooms. Older members of the Club also supported the new with pledges of various sums of money.
The Agoro of Egbaland, a foundation member of the Club, commended the Membership Committee Chairman, Chief Sofela Sowemimo, and his members for identifying and recommending most suitable and qualified Egbas for the Club membership.
