The Egbaland Humanitarian Development Council (EHDC), has on Wednesday, 17th of November, 2021, recognised two Egba prominent Chiefs for their Humanitarian acts by honouring them with Humanitarian Ambassador Recognition Awards.
They are Chief (Ambassador) Toye Okanlawon, Bobagunwa-Elect of Egbaland, and Chief Saheed Olayemi Lawal, the Osi Bobagunwa of Egbaland.
Speaking at the occasion, the Director General of the Council, Aare Jide Taiwo, appreciated the two honourees for their prompt and selfless services to Egbaland and Nigeria as a whole.
Aare Jide Taiwo said that the two Egba High Chiefs had demonstrated exemplary acts of passionate love for the people of Egbaland, especially the less privileged.
He therefore stated that the EHDC had deemed it fit to honour them with Humanitarian Ambassador Awards.
According to him, Chief Toye Okanlawon, JP, FIIM, who is an astute administrator, diplomat, and conflict revolutionist, had worked in many national and international organisations, where his philanthropic zeal had been greatly recognised as well.
Also, Chief Yemi Lawal, Fcti, FCA, Osi Bobagunwa of Egbaland, who is a Real Estate Guru, an Economist, holder of many Chieftaincy Titles in Egbaland and beyond, had greatly contributed to the development of his immediate communities through awarding of scholarship to students, donation of borehole projects, development of Health Centres, and so on.
The Egbaland Humanitarian and Development Council also extolled the wife of the Alake of Egbaland, Olori Tokunbo Gbadebo, describing her as the pillar of support of the Egba Apex Monarch over the years.
While presenting the Senior Citizenship Certificate recognition to Olori Tokunbo Gbadebo, the Chairman of EHDC and Osi of Egbaland, Chief Olabode Mustapha, said the Olori had been on the Council’s watch since inception, adding that she had always been a respectful and revered personality.
Chief Mustapha further stated that behind every great man, was always a strong and supportive woman, stating that the Olori had paid her dues as a strong pillar of support to the Alake in all ramifications.
The Agura of Gbagura, Oba Saburee Babajide Bakre, Oba Nofiu Aderounmu – the Onijale of Ijale Papa, Olu Tafin-Elect, Oba Moruf Adebayo, was also present at the occasion.
Egba High Chiefs present included Balogun Sikirullah Atobatele, Osi Bode Mustapha; Chairman of EHDC, Baagbimo Akanni Akinwale, Aare Ganiu Babayeju, Bobamuluro Semiu Sodip, Aare Baaroyin Layi Labode, Olori Bisi Soboyejo, and others.
