Presidency Reacts To Election Postponement
The presidency has reacted to the news that the 2019 general elections earlier scheduled to start this Sat has been deferred by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria’s electoral umpire, had within the early hours of Sat, shifted the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections until February twenty three.
The Commission additionally deferred the national and state assembly elections, to hold on March nine.
Giving a reason for the postponement, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu stated the decision was reached after a careful review of the arrangements for the exercise.
Reacting, Mr. Laoulu Akande, Senior Special Assistant-Media & Publicity to vp, Yemi Osinbajo, confirmed his boss and President Muhammadu Buhari were already in Lagos and katsina states where they were to exercise their civic right
He concluded that this is not satisfying but believe that INEC is fully on top of the situation.
