Politicians have been charged to embark on people oriented projects that would positively impact on the life of the people.
A member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Sagamu Constituency II, Hon. Ademola Adeniran, gave the charge while fielding questions from journalists in Sagamu, after donating five trucks to aid refuse collection in the area, saying it was imperative for politicians to ensure the people enjoy dividends of democracy in their various communities.
Hon. Adeniran noted that the donation was to discourage indiscriminate dumping of refuse along the roads and market places, thereby promoting clean and hygienic environment, adding that standard of living of the people would improve through various developmental projects.
“It is the right of the people to feel the impact of government. The Governor cannot do it alone, that is why Honourable members of Assembly who are closest to the community have to contribute our quota for the upliftment of the people”, he said.
Hon. Adeniran pledged to continue in providing school sandals and exercise books for primary school pupils, to complement government’s efforts on quality education, in addition to the provision of boreholes to some communities, in order to enjoy accessibility to potable water.
While lamenting the rate at which youths engaged in drug abuse, the Lawmaker urged them to take advantage of the Job Portal created by the State government, so as to be gainfully employed, promising to organise training programmes that would put them on track, for a secured future.
The representative of Iyaloja, Sabo Market, Alhaja Adijat Ajamajebi, commended Hon. Adeniran for providing the trucks which would further assist in ensuring clean environment.
Also, some residents of Ewuga and Ewu-Oliwo communities, Mrs. Selimot Tijani, Mrs. Abosede Oluwayemi and Mr. Folorunso Awosanya, noted that the boreholes donated to their communities had solved water scarcity.
